About this calculator
A time card for freelancers and shift workers. Enter start, end and break for each entry; the calculator totals hours and, if you add a rate, estimates gross pay.
Overnight shifts
If an end time is earlier than its start time, the shift is assumed to finish the following day and 24 hours are added.
Breaks per entry
Each row has its own break field, so a long shift and a short one can be recorded on the same card.
Estimates, not payroll
Pay is rate × hours and excludes tax, tips, overtime multipliers and local labour rules.

Frequently asked
How are overnight shifts calculated?
When the end is earlier than the start, the calculator treats the end as the next day. A 22:00–06:00 shift therefore counts as eight hours.
Does it round to the nearest quarter hour?
No. Results are exact to the minute and displayed as hours and minutes; use a payroll system for rounding rules.
