Countdown
Every number is calculated in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
How it works
About this calculator
Choose a date and time to count down to. The display updates every second, survives a refresh via local storage and flips into an elapsed-time view once the moment passes.
Saved on this device
The target is stored in local storage, not on a server. Clearing site data removes it.
Local time, always
The countdown uses the clock and time zone of the device you are reading it on.
Browsers throttle tabs
Background tabs may update less often. The remaining time is recalculated from the target each tick, so it stays accurate when you return.
Questions & answers
Frequently asked
Does the countdown keep running if I close the tab?
The target is remembered. When you reopen the page, the remaining time is recalculated from your device clock — no time is lost.
Can I share a countdown?
The target lives in your browser only. To share it, send the date and time; the recipient can set it in one click.
