Unix Timestamp
Every number is calculated in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
How it works
About this calculator
A live Unix clock plus a two-way converter. Paste seconds or milliseconds to get a local and UTC date, or turn any date and time into a timestamp.
Ten or thirteen digits
Ten digits means seconds, thirteen means milliseconds. The unit selector can override the automatic guess.
The epoch
Unix time counts from 1 January 1970 at 00:00 UTC and ignores leap seconds.
Local and UTC
The same instant is shown twice: once in your device time zone and once in UTC for logs and APIs.
Questions & answers
Frequently asked
What is Unix time?
A single number for an instant: the seconds elapsed since 1 January 1970 UTC. It is time-zone independent, which is why APIs use it.
Why does the result differ from my server?
Check whether one side is in milliseconds. A timestamp thirteen digits long is roughly a thousand times larger than a seconds value.
